Thank You!

Wow! Our Grand Opening was a huge success. Better than I could have ever hoped for, and so much fun.

The stress is gone (for now :)), and the fun of deciding what to stock next time has begun. We will continue to stay busy over the next month with customs (all 3 sold out!!).

Thank you to everyone who bought, looked, supported, and everything else. It could not have been successful without all of out great friends and customers. And thank you tons to Monica, of Little Bear Knitwear (you know, that Silly Stripes Mama?). We have developed a great friendship since discovering we live within miles of eachother. She was here for the stocking yesterday for fun amd moral support, and spent countless hours helping us set the store up. Thanks so much Monica!

And finally, thank you again to all the great WAHM's who brought their talent to the grand opening....Andrea, Nickie, Tara, and Monica. Your work is all spectacular, and I am so appreciative of your help!

So, here is a taste of the aftermath...on the way to the Post Office to head to their new homes!!

Monica, of Little Bear Knitwear, has knit up something special for a special little girl (wish my girl was getting it!), Andrea, of Dwell Wool Knits, has brought an awesom epair of itty bitty woolies, Tara, of Ewe Silly Baby, made a gorgeous SMSS Kimono for a sweet baby girl, and Nickie of Nickie Nut Knits, worked up something awesome for mama (I so wish I could stalk my own store ;)).

Please join us for our introductory prices, and help make our fist stocking a great success!!

Busy, Busy, Busy...

I can not NOT spin for even a day. I have to feel that fiber run throu my fingers, and see the finished product. I need to slow down though. The customs list is getting longer, and I have several personal spinning projects I still need to work on. It is consuming...though not in a bad way.

Latest Custom: For my dear friend, Monica. Western Sky Knits "Amelie" on Superwash Merino. Turned out beautifully, with excellent yardage :)

Some personal spinning George did yesterday. "Indian Corn" on Merino/Bamboo. I cannot photograph how beautiful this is. The bamboo shimmers, and make a deliciously silky yarn. I hope to knit it up into something yummy for me.

I am also working on some "Twilight" dyed by Lisa of Becoming Art. It is also a merino/bamboo blend, and wants to become a SMSS Pinafore :) No pics yet ;)

Some Personal Spinning....

In my down time, I am getting through 12 oz of Mosaic Moon "Woodland Tale" on Superfine Merino. I am in love. Deep Love!

A Few Recent Customs, too!

All of these turned out really nice!

The first is Family Roots (formerly Ky Baby Knits) "Chocolate Dipped Biscotti" on Merino. I wasn't sure I was goin to love this when it was on the bobbin, but ended up really liking it. The contrast between the dark and lihkt sets it off.

Next is Some Selah (these colorways are from Lisa, now of Becoming Art). I did singles of "Neverland" and "Pan" and plied them together. It turned out wonderfully!

Some More Selah..."Frija":

And, later today, I will have some gorgeous WSK to show!

Signature Colorway!

We have it! We decided from the beginning that we needed a "signature" colorway. One that would encompass our favorite colors, and give a feeeling of "Splendor" whenever we (or anyone else) saw it. George came up witht he colors, and he is the dyer of it. He has done a remarkable job in creating it, and re-creating it. We hope to have some of this (on different bases) at almost all store stockings.

Here is your sneak peek :)

Another Colorway...

George dyed some roving today...it is beautiful. While it was outside drying, this evening, the sun was setting (beautiful, of course), and the colorway name came to me. It was like the fiber was dyed for the name.

Because of our Navy background, I always think of the saying "Red sky at night, Sailors delight. Red sky in morning sailors take warning". Sailor's Delight. Our newest colorway... "Sailor's Delight".

Getting Ready!

Wow. We have been SO busy trying to get yarn dyed and spun for our grand opening! Between designing it all, spinning for instock, and customs, we are ready for the store to open!

We are hoping for an opening date of around October 1st, but it could be sooner or later. I have a couple of friends (also wollie WAHM's) doing some special knitting with our handspun to list in the store as part of the grand opening. If they all are ready before Oct. 1st, we will be too!

I am going to get some photos together for a sneak peek, soon. I hope everyone enjoys our yarns as much as we do :)

Until next time,
George and Laura

Welcome!

Welcome!
Our Very first blog post. It has been coming, and though we never thought we would be "bloggers", we have fallen into the blogging world.
I am not sure how often we will update, but I hope to share our work, our art with you here.
We are partners, parents, dyers, spinners, and I am a knitter (George doesn't share this love of knitting...yet). We truly found love in the fiber arts, and enjoy creating beautiflu wooly goodness for all to enjoy (though sometimes it is hard to say goodbye to our babies of yarn). The process has been both fullfilling and relaxing. We learn something new every day, and cannot seem to get enough.
So again, thanks for coming here, and supporting this small venture. Not as much of a business as it is a way for us to keep creating yarny "SPLENDOR".
